Post subject:  Stencil used on old Washburn, Oahu and Kay

Does anyone know how the gold stencil on older Washburn, Oahu and Kay's was applied? I don't think they could have been hand painted. Here is an example:

Does anyone know of someone selling kits to reproduce this (silk screen, applique ?)

Thanks, GS

My guess is they were done with the old style "Rub on" transfers.

This is a process I have heard called "decalcomania", which is defined as a transfer of a design off of paper. I always had the impression it was like the decals we used to put on model airplanes.

I wonder if is one piece and covers the whole top and then finish put over the top. I have an Oahu 71k, and I don't see a seam anywhere. Have you run across anyone still making these?
